Welcome to Elementary Spanish!

I am looking forward to teaching Spanish class this year at Eastern Hills. I have been in the teaching profession for 7 years.  I have taught 4th grade and 1st grade and enjoy all grade levels. I completed a Masters Degree in Elementary Education (K-8) in 2005 and I hope to eam an endorsement in ESL (English as a second language) next year.

I truely believe a second language is so important to our children, especially Spanish since we live in New Mexico. Spanish is not only a wonderful language but a beautiful culture. I look forward to having enriched experiences in the classroom with the students.

Parents, please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any concerns about my classroom. --Senora Stoyanof

 Grading

Students receive 2 grades in class. One is for academic and the other is for behavior.

Academic Grading

E- excellent            S- satisfaction          N- needs help

I have explained the grading scale to the students. An "N" does not mean failure in anyway. An "N" only means the student needs additional help or time to learn the material. I firmly believe each student learns differently and on a different time schedule.

Behavior Grading

E- excellent          S- satisfaction           N-needs improvement

If a student receives a 'ticket" for the grading period an student can not earn a "E" for the grading period. If a "ticket" is given I would appreciate having a call from the parents to discuss the situation. I strongly believe in giving postive praise and a nice learning environment so students can have enriched learning experiences. Unfortuately, sometimes students have a bad day and they get a ticket because of wrong decisions.

Time schedule

Due to the fact I only have each class 4 times a month, I try to teach the most important and worthwhile lessons for greater student exposure.
