Eastern Hills Baptist Church began a preschool and kindergarten program in 1973. The school was so popular that parents would stand in line all night to enroll their child in the program. At the encouragement of the parents, an elementary school was founded in 1997. The first year there was only a first grade with 13 students. Each year thereafter a new grade and extra classes of the existing grades were added.
In March 2001, Eastern Hills Baptist Church began construction on a new educational wing. The school was given 6 new classrooms
In January, 2002, the school incorporated and changed its name to Eastern Hills Christian Academy. The academy is still considered a ministry of the church, but it has a separate set of by-laws, a separate tax number, and is under the direction of its own board of directors.
In January of 2002, Eastern Hills Christian Academy became the parent organization of a small East Mountain elementary school that needed assistance. In June of 2006 that campus was able to incorporate as East Mountain Christian Academy.
In August, 2004, again at the encouragement of the parents, a middle school was started. The fifth graders were moved to another campus and a sixth grade was started. In 2005, seventh grade was added. In 2006, eighth grade was added. On May 24, 2007, the first eighth grade graduation was celebrated with 5 graduates. Three of those graduates had attended EHCA since Pre-school. The middle school is currently located at 5528 Eubank.
At present, there are 95 pre-schoolers, 177 elementary students, and 80 middle school students for a total of 352 students.
God has blessed us richly. We have attempted to follow Him one step at a time. We pledge to continue to seek His face, listen to His voice, and follow wherever He leads.
At present, Eastern Hills Baptist Church is in the beginning stages of discussing the building of an additional wing that would include a full-size gym and enough extra classrooms to house the middle school at the main campus. We ask each of you to pray for God's perfect will to be done in the growth of the school.
