I am sorry, that I didn't inform you that we will be needing drivers for the field trip on the 27th. If you can drive, will you let me know by email how many back seat belts you will have available.
As you will notice after the spelling test today, and hopefully your student has already told you. I learned a lot from the spelling seminar I attended last week. Even though the program is expensive, the school has agreed to let me try it. The kids seem really jazzed about it and we have done things differently and I think better in the classroom. You will see the format of the spelling list changing, beginning with they will be tested then bringing home the words to study. Those words will show up on later test, so it won't be just memorizing for the week and forget all about it. We are going to try to impact their applied spelling for life. Please give this a chance, before you judge whether you like it or not. Hopefully, it will be hugely successful.
The half way point between semesters is here. Since we have been doing more independent and harder work, we do have some grades that are C's or below. If your child has a C or below, they will be getting a copy of the grades to bring home to you. We know that you will be able to encourage them to turn in work, listen carefully, follow directions, work carefully, and do all of those other things that will raise grades. Remember that there is still 41/2 weeks to improve these grades, so no one needs to panic.
