EHCA Preschool Educational Philosophy and Goals
Children in the three-to-five year old range acquire knowledge in ways that are significantly different than older children. They learn best through direct sensory encounters with the world and not through formal academic processes. Manipulating, exploring, and experimenting with real objects is a young child's way to grow in knowledge. They learn almost exclusively by participation and through movement.
Our learning environment is social in nature, providing a secure and stimulating climate for all children. It provides time and opportunities for children to take appropriate risks and to explore and investigate their world. Children engage in experiences, which encourage them to interact with others, to develop interpersonal skills, and to work and learn cooperatively. Our teachers prepare the environment so that it provides stimulating, challenging material and activities for children.
